The General Archive of the Region of Murcia, under the Ministry of Culture and Spokesperson, has received various documents of the City of Ricote.
Its mayor, Celedonio Moreno, presented to the general director of Cultural Heritage, Maria Comas, various documents and historical heritage of great interest to municipality in order that they are properly preserved and disseminated in the first archival center in the region.
Maria Comas said "Ricote joins other municipalities, such as Beniel and Ceuta, who wanted to preserve their documentary heritage depositing it in the General Archive of the region. From now on, culture is what is committed to adequately describe and preserve funds received digitally reproduce and disseminate through the Web Archive, as is being done with the millions of documents held ".
In total, there are 13 historical documents delivered.
Most have to do with surveys and boundary marking and were written in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
Among them, the dispute over demarcation followed by the towns of Ricote, Blanca and Abarán, 1739.
Also, have also deposited the municipal ordinances of 1888 and the writing of pricing and harmony given by the municipalities of Ricote, Villanueva and Ojós, original of 1773 (collected in a transfer of 1912), which shows us, Comas said, " that sometimes a historical document continues to recognize rights and expands its administrative effectiveness over time. "
Nine million documents
The headquarters building of the General Archive of the region, which has just celebrated its first ten years, contains documents from both the Autonomous Community and the Central Government in the region and from different municipalities, and also the custody of missing entities like the Provincial Government.
In total, 7.8 million documents and records and 1.1 million photographs preserved in 84 kilometers of shelving.
Maria Comas added that "these figures show that the documents guarded Archives is a powerful institution of memory and indispensable reference for researchers, and interested citizens can study and better understand the history of the Region of Murcia" .
Environmental and safety conditions, in addition to appropriate technical treatment in the description and conservation, has led to numerous institutions and individuals to entrust their funds.
Ensembles as the Choir Fernández Caballero, youth and recreational associations as Scouts (Boy Scouts), and political parties as Union of Democratic Center (UCD) or Democratic and Social Centre (CDS) have deposited their files with the intention of preserving the memory of these organizations and encourage their study.
Also some professionals and individuals as architects Juan Antonio Molina and Pedro Antonio San Martin;
writers and poets like Alfonso Carreño and Dictinio Castle;
musicians like Ginés Abellán;
Requiel photojournalists Angel Martinez and Tito Bernal and multifaceted personalities like Antonio Perez Crespo, entrepreneur, writer and politician, have entrusted their private documents to the Archives, which today can be consulted by anyone interested.
